Thanksgiving Table

The possibilities to decorate your table for a special event are endless and Thanksgiving is a biiiig special event! I know a lot of people stress over - I can include myself here!- when it comes to set up the Thanksgiving table. I don't like to give advice but if you are hosting your first Thanksgiving at home this year and/or you are on a budget try to avoid buying all the seasonal stuff and get things that you can use on your daily life, and follow your own style. 

I'm sharing here some ideas for inspirations with different styles from rustic classic and shabby chic to modern simple and cozy.

They all look gorgeous but if I had to set up my table I will go for a simple modern style. 

Here are some of the things that I would include:

Basic white dinnerware set with some extra pieces with fall colors and some fancy glasses for water and wine.

Fun colorful table runner with some mid century wood candle holders and a simple home style flower arrangement.

It's All About Pies

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is in a week?! It's amazing how sometimes time goes so fast! This year is going to be kind of different since we are in a new city and we don't know a lot of people yet, but for sure we are going to celebrate this wonderful day! We are going to have dinner with a friend, his wife and their families. They are very nice people and we are very happy to have the chance to meet their families and be part of that dinner. I love Thanksgiving, a day to enjoy the company of  family and friends, food and drinks, it is the perfect Holiday!
So we are bringing a dessert, I looked up for some inspiration and here are my favorites recipes for a special dinner. some are more traditional than others

We still need to get some furniture for the new place,the studio/office room is kind of empty and since we have a thrift store right around the corner I started looking for some inspiration. Wow. it's amazing what a can of spray paint and some imagination can do! Check these before & after furniture makeovers for some ideas, they are stunning!

I Don't Want Empty Walls

We recently moved to a new -very old in fact- rented house, and although we finished unpacking all the boxes a month ago we still haven't done much apart from that. So all the walls are empty which I think is very sad. There are plenty of options to decorate your walls but for now I want to hang prints and art all over the house. Some bold colorful prints will be perfect. Looking around I found some artist that are just amazing! Check them out!

Baking

I love food. I like to eat and I like to cook, but specially I enjoy baking. There is something about baking that is very rewarding for me...I think is the transformation of the ingredients what fascinates me the most. You have to work with those ingredients, blend, mix, shape them...and that's a fun part. And then if everything works ok you get to enjoy a yummy treat! That's also a fun part!

For me baking is specially rewarding during fall and winter, when it's cold outside, then I have the perfect excuse to stay warm at home - I don't like cold weather, I really don't, but I can talk about it in a different post. Now let me tell you about the last recipe that I tried : Honey Dinner Rolls.  
I got the recipe from Pastry Affair, I basically followed her steps, the only thing that I changed was that I mixed all-purposed flour with whole wheat flour - it feels healthier!.

You have to divide your dough into 12 portions and shape them into small balls.Next time I should try to make the balls a little bit more even :) but they were ok.

This is an easy fast recipe, and the result is soft and delicious. You should try it!

Side note: Looking for some other recipes I just found this report that claims that making bread helps people to change their lives for better! Just try it! :)

Hello There!

and welcome! I'm happy to finally start this blog, I guess it was time to have my own, right?!
Why did I wait so long? ummm, the first  excuse reason that comes to my mind is lack of time, so I hope now that there have been some changes in my life I can find that time!
I just read that in 2012 there were more or less 31 million bloggers only in the United States! So here I am, adding one more to the list! :) 

I want to share what I like, what I do, what inspires me...and I'll be happy to hear what you think.
